Christopher Smart
Christopher Smart ( Shipbourne , 1722 - London , 1771 ) var en britisk poet .
Biografi
Professor i filosofi ved Cambridge University , i 1749 flyttet han til London . Hans mest kjente verk er Hilliade (1753), et episk-satirisk dikt om John Hill (1716–1775), komponist, skuespiller, forfatter og botaniker.
Innlagt på et asyl fra 1756 til 1763 komponerte han Jubilate Agno (utgitt i 1939) og A song for David (1763), med et bibelsk tema.
Han ble låst inne i Londons gjeldsfengsel i 1768 , og døde der tre år senere.
